Do British nationals need an arrival card & a visa for Singapore?
All travellers from the United Kingdom, regardless of the purpose and duration of the visit, need a Singapore tourist card. The SGAC for British nationals is not a visa. It is an entry requirement for all foreign visitors, including those who do not need a visa.
As a British citizen, you can visit Singapore for up to 90 days visa-free, but you still need an Arrival Card.
If you do need a visa for Singapore, you need to submit a visa application online or at the nearest embassy or consulate.
What Singapore visas are available for British nationals?
Singapore offers several types of visas that fall into one of two broad categories: short-term tourist visas and long-term visas.
Short stays in Singapore
UK passport holders can stay in Singapore for up to 90 days without applying for a visa. You can travel visa-free for tourism, leisure, or family visits.

Long stays in Singapore
Long-term Singapore visas are available if you are travelling from the UK to Singapore for more than 90 days or for reasons such as work or study.
You need your British passport (valid for 6 months on arrival, SGAC, and your visa for Singapore.
What are the SGAC entry requirements for the UK?
You need to meet just a few SGAC entry requirements for UK citizens. You need:
- Internet access
- UK passport valid
- Completed SGAC application form
- Debit or credit card to pay the fees
British passport requirements to apply for a Singapore Arrival Card
Your UK passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date you’ll arrive in Singapore.
You must use the same passport to apply for your SGAC and travel to Singapore. The details on your arrival card must match your passport.
Keep this in mind if you’re a dual national with more than one passport.
Additional Singapore immigration requirements for British arrivals
To enter Singapore from the UK, you must meet all the immigration and safety requirements. You must have:
- Sufficient funds for your stay in Singapore
- Proof of onward travel (for example, return flight tickets)

How to apply for a Singapore Arrival Card as a British visitor
Getting your SGAC for British passport holders is quick and easy. You can fill out your form online in just a few minutes.
Although it is possible to help someone else complete their SGAC application, each request must be submitted individually.
You need to provide your personal details and passport information in the application form including:
- Name
- Nationality
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Place of birth
- Passport number
- Passport country
- Date of issue of the passport
- Date of expiry of the passport
- Home address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Travel plans
After you have confirmed that all the information entered in the application form is correct, you can candidates will be asked to pay for the SGAC application fee through a secure online payment system.
Payment can be made using any internationally recognised debit or credit card.
Receiving your approved Singapore Arrival Card
British SGAC holders can present their tourist card in its electronic format on their phone or another mobile device, along with their passport, upon arrival in Singapore.
Please note that the Singapore arrival card does not guarantee entry into the country. The final decision is up to the Singaporean border control and immigration authorities.
Singapore Arrival Card for British visitors: processing time
SGAC online applications are in most cases processed within 2 days. However, you should apply as soon as possible to allow time for delays.

Register with the British Embassy in Singapore
UK citizens are highly recommended to register with the British Embassy before travelling to Singapore. Although most trips are problem-free, registered visitors enjoy greater peace of mind.
