Arrival Card Needed

Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) is a mandatory travel document for all foreign visitors, and Sri Lankan passport holders are no exception. Sri Lankan nationals are required to apply for a Singaporean electronic travel authorisation before travelling, regardless of the purpose of their trip.

When do Sri Lankan passport holders need an Arrival Card for Singapore?

All Sri Lankan travellers must obtain an Arrival Card if they wish to visit Singapore. This applies both to travellers who require a visa and those who are eligible for a visa-free entry.

It is important to bear in mind that a Singaporean Arrival Card and a Singaporean visa are different types of documents. An Arrival Card is not a replacement for a visa and cannot be used instead of one.

The SGAC replaces the paper-based Disembarkation/ Embarkation Card, making the document verification process quicker and reducing waiting times at the border crossing in Singapore.

Do Sri Lankans need a visa for Singapore?

Sri Lankan passport holders who intend to work, study, or live in Singapore must obtain a Singaporean visa suitable for the purpose of their trip, in addition to the SGAC. Travellers are required to visit their nearest Singaporean embassy or consulate in person in order to apply.

On the other hand, Sri Lankan citizens are permitted to travel to Singapore visa-free for trips shorter than 30 days and for the following purposes:

  • Tourism and leisure
  • Family and friends visits
  • Business trips (meetings, conferences, seminars)
  • Science, education, cultural, and sporting events
  • Humanitarian reasons
  • Shorter medical treatments
  • Official trips

Allowed ports of entry for SGAC holders from Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan SGAC holders are allowed to enter Singapore by air, sea, or land, through the following border crossings:

  • Singapore Changi Airport

  • Woodlands checkpoint
  • Tuas checkpoint

  • Singapore Cruise Centre
  • Changi Point Ferry Terminal
  • Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

Sri Lankan passengers should bear in mind that SGAC does not guarantee entry into Singapore. This decision is made by the immigration officials at the border crossing, after examining the passenger’s travel documents.
