Arrival Card for Citizens of Taiwan

All foreign nationals, including Taiwanese passport holders, must apply for a Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC), regardless of the purpose and duration of their trip. In 2019, this system replaced the paper-based Disembarkation/Embarkation Card for Singapore.

Do Taiwanese citizens need to obtain an Arrival Card for Singapore?

The Singapore Arrival Card for Taiwan is a mandatory document for all Singaporean visitors.

It is important to keep in mind, however, that the SGAC does not replace a visa. Taiwanese travellers who require a visa for their trip must apply for both a suitable visa type and the Arrival Card.

When do Taiwanese travellers need a visa for Singapore?

Taiwanese nationals must obtain a Singapore visa if they:

  • Travel to Singapore for purposes other than tourism or business
  • Intend to stay in Singapore for more than 30 days

This typically applies to Taiwanese citizens who would like to work, study, or reside in Singapore.

Do Taiwanese applicants have to contact a Singaporean embassy before travelling?

Taiwanese passport holders need to contact a Singaporean embassy or consulate only when applying for a traditional visa.

Travellers who only need an SGAC can apply online. They do not need to contact a Singaporean diplomatic representation.

How to apply for a Singapore Arrival Card as Taiwanese traveller

Taiwanese travellers can apply for an SGAC from any mobile device in a matter of minutes, given that they have a stable internet connection.

To complete the registration, applicants are required to complete the SCAG application form for Taiwan and provide the following personal, passport, and trip-related information:

  • First and last names as they appear on the passport
  • Gender
  • Date and country of birth
  • Passport number
  • Passport country
  • Date of issue and expiry of the passport
  • Contact information (home address, phone number, email)
  • Trip purpose
  • Travel dates
  • Accommodation details

Candidates must confirm that the details they entered in the form are correct and match those of the passport.

Before they can submit the form, applicants have to pay the SGAC application fee using a debit or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, JCB, Diners Club, Discover, or Union Pay). Payment is done through a secure online platform.

Singapore Arrival Card processing time for Taiwanese passport holders

SGAC applications for Taiwan are in most cases processed within five business days.

Candidates will receive their SGAC and payment confirmation via email to the address provided in the application form.

It is not necessary to print the SGAC. Passengers from Taiwan can simply present it in its electronic form on their phone along with the passport at the border crossing.

Allowed ports of entry with SGAC for Taiwanese visitors

Taiwanese passport holders can use their SGAC to enter Singapore through the following border crossings:

  • Singapore Changi Airport
  • Tuas checkpoint
  • Woodlands checkpoint
  • Changi Ferry Terminal
  • Singapore Cruise Centre
  • Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal

Please note that the SG Arrival Card for Taiwan does not guarantee entry into Singapore from Taiwan. This right is exclusively granted by the immigration officials at the port of entry.

Singapore’s Arrival Card requirements for Taiwan

Taiwanese nationals who wish to apply for an SGAC must meet certain Singapore AC passport and application requirements. The Singapore Arrival Card requirements for Taiwan include:

  • Complete the online SGAC application form. When travelling in a group or family, every applicant including minors must submit an individual form
  • Have a valid Taiwanese passport
  • Have a valid email address to receive the communication regarding the SGAC and the Arrival Card itself
  • Have an unexpired debit or credit card to pay the SGAC processing fee online

Some applicants may be asked to provide additional documentation, for example, proof of sufficient financial means to cover the stay in Singapore, a return or onward ticket to another destination, and a vaccine certificate. This need is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Singapore Arrival Card passport requirements for Taiwan

Taiwanese nationals must make sure that they are travelling to Singapore with the same passport that they used to apply for the SGAC. The two documents are electronically linked, and if the passport number is not identical, applicants will be denied entry to Singapore.

Furthermore, Taiwanese travellers who have multiple passports due to dual citizenship must apply for an SGAC with the same passport that they will use for travelling to Singapore.

The passport must be valid for 6 months or more from the arrival in Singapore. If this is not the case, the applicant must obtain a new passport before applying.
